Ivy Chef Agency connects private households and estates with highly experienced private chefs nationwide. We place chefs in permanent, part time, temp, travel, and special event roles. Each search is shaped by how the home operates. We consider whether the environment is formal or informal, whether the chef will work within a larger household team or directly with the principals, and the standards and pace of the position.

What We Look for in a Private Chef
We are selective about the chefs we represent. We typically require a minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in private households.
Working successfully in a private home requires an understanding of its pace, expectations, and boundaries. We look for candidates who know when to be present and when to step back, communicate clearly, adjust when plans change, and deliver consistently without disrupting the household.
We carefully review each chef’s private service experience, employment history, and references. We also consider how they approach food preferences, dietary needs, menu planning, travel, entertaining, kitchen organization, and collaboration with existing household staff. Where a particular cuisine or specialized dietary experience is important, we match those preferences with the chef’s culinary strengths and background. These considerations guide the candidates we put forward for the position and the household.
